Terms of Service
Version 2026-10-30 · Effective 30 October 2026
1. Agreement
These terms are an agreement between you and Stojanov Ventures UG (haftungsbeschränkt) (“we”, “us”), a company registered in Germany, about your use of the Rather apps for iOS, Android and the web (the “Service”). The contract language is English.
The welcome screen says, above every way to sign in: “By continuing you confirm you’re 16 or older and agree to the Terms.” By continuing from there and creating an account, you agree to these terms. We record which version you accepted and when. Our Privacy Policy explains how we handle your data. If you do not agree, please do not create an account.
For the iOS app only, Apple’s Licensed Application End User License Agreement (the Standard EULA) also applies, including to purchases made through the App Store. Where it and these terms differ, these terms prevail, except for the rights the Standard EULA gives Apple.
2. Who Can Use Rather
Rather, including playing without an account, is for people 16 and older. The welcome screen states that by continuing you confirm you are. If we learn that an account belongs to someone under 16, we delete it.
3. What Rather Is
Rather is a daily puzzle app: logic, number and word puzzles. The daily puzzles need an account, made with an email address, Sign in with Apple or Google sign-in; a password is optional.
A free account plays seven of each day’s ten daily puzzles. Rather More, our optional paid subscription, adds the other three dailies, more hints and every past daily, to play any time (section 4). You can add friends by invite (section 6).
4. Rather More
Rather More is an optional subscription in the iOS and Android apps. It adds the other three dailies, more hints and every past daily, to play any time. It is billed by Apple through the App Store or by Google through Google Play, and the price is shown in the app before you pay.
- It renews automatically at the end of each period (monthly or yearly) until you cancel.
- The yearly plan may start with a free trial of 7 days, for people who are eligible. Unless you cancel before the trial ends, it turns into a paid yearly subscription. The store tells you whether you are eligible.
- You manage and cancel it in your Apple or Google subscription settings, not in Rather. Cancel before the store’s deadline to avoid the next charge. After you cancel, Rather More stays active until the end of the period you paid for.
- Deleting your Rather account does not cancel the subscription. Cancel it in the store first (see Delete your account).
- Apple or Google sells the subscription to you. Payment and refunds are handled by them under their policies; ask the store for a refund. Your statutory withdrawal right as an EU consumer applies to them and is explained in their terms.
- Your solved puzzles, stars and streaks are yours: they are kept if Rather More ends.
Your free account. You can end it at any time and without giving a reason: delete your account in the app (Account → Delete account) or email us at hello@stojanovventures.com. Everything is then deleted as described in the Privacy Policy. This is also how you use your right as an EU consumer to withdraw from the free account within 14 days.
5. Your Account and Username
- Keep access to your email, your Apple or Google account if you sign in with one, and any password, to yourself. You are responsible for what happens under your account.
- Give a real email address you can read, so sign-in codes and other account emails can reach you.
- You choose your username once, unless we reset it. Your friends see it.
- A username must not impersonate anyone (a person, a brand or us), and must not be offensive, hateful, sexual, threatening or illegal.
- If a username breaks these rules, we may reset it (you pick a new one the next time you sign in, and the old one can’t be used again), hide your account from friends, or ban the account (section 8).
- Tell us at hello@stojanovventures.com if you think someone else has used your account.
6. Friends
- Friends are invite-only and mutual. You become friends with someone only when one of you accepts the other’s invite link or code. There is no search and no public profile.
- An invite works once, for 7 days.
- Your friends see your username, your photo if you added one (else an avatar drawn from your username), which of today’s puzzles you solved, your stars and your streak, and, when they tap you, your times today and whether you used a hint or a check. They don’t see your email, earlier days or whether you have Rather More. Anyone who opens an invite from you sees your username and photo.
- You can remove a friend at any time. They aren’t told.
7. Reporting and Blocking
- You can report a friend, or the person whose invite you received, from the app, and block them. The reported player never learns who reported them.
- Blocking ends the friendship and stops invites between you, either way. They aren’t told. You can unblock later; that doesn’t bring the friendship back.
- There is no tolerance for objectionable usernames or abusive players. We act on reports within 24 hours, as section 8 describes.
8. Moderation
Our tools. To keep Rather safe we use a filter that refuses some usernames when you pick one, reports from players and blocking. After a report or a notice we may reset a username, hide an account from friends or ban an account. A person reviews every report and notice and decides; we make no automated moderation decisions.
Reporting illegal content. Anyone, with or without an account, can tell us about content in Rather they believe is illegal: in the app (for friends) or by email to hello@stojanovventures.com. Please include why you think it is illegal, where it is (the username, and the invite code if you have one), your name and email address (not needed for some offences against children), and a statement that you believe in good faith that the notice is accurate and complete. We confirm that we received it and tell you what we decided.
Why we acted. When we reset a username, hide an account or ban it, we tell the player by email what we did, the facts and the rule (these terms or the law) it rests on, and how to contest it: reply to that email or write to hello@stojanovventures.com, and a person looks at it again. You can also go to court.
Contact point. Authorities and players reach us at hello@stojanovventures.com, in German or English (see our Imprint).
9. Fair Use
Please don’t:
- Use the Service for anything illegal
- Try to reach other people’s accounts or data
- Get around security measures, overload the Service or interfere with how it works
- Fake your times or harass other players
- Misuse reports or invites, for example to spam or harass someone
- Copy the puzzles in bulk, scrape the Service or resell it
10. Emails
- Account emails. We send what your account needs: sign-in codes and links, password resets and the code to delete your account.
- Service emails. We also send a welcome email after you create your account and, if you start a Rather More trial, an email shortly before it ends. These are about your account, not advertising.
11. Your Content
Your username and your solves are yours. You let us store them and show them to you on your devices and, as section 6 describes, to the friends you accept, to run the Service, and for nothing else.
The puzzles, games and app are ours. You may play and share screenshots of them; you may not copy or redistribute them in bulk.
12. The Service
We work to keep Rather running and its puzzles correct. We are responsible for defects under the statutory rules. We do not promise it will always be available or free of bugs. Today’s puzzles play offline once they have loaded; signing in, new days, friends and sending your solves need a connection.
We change features only for a valid reason (legal, security, technical or improving Rather) and at no extra cost. If a change materially limits Rather More, we tell you 30 days ahead and you can cancel in the store.
This does not affect your statutory rights under EU or German consumer protection law.
13. Liability
We are liable without limitation for intent and gross negligence, for injury to life, body or health, under the Product Liability Act and where we gave a guarantee.
For slight negligence we are liable only for breach of an essential contractual obligation (one whose fulfilment makes the contract possible and on which you may rely), limited to the foreseeable damage typical for this kind of contract. Otherwise our liability for slight negligence is excluded.
14. Ending
By you: stop using Rather at any time, and delete your account in the app (Account → Delete account; see Delete your account). Your account, username, solves and friendships are removed from our servers. This cannot be undone. A Rather More subscription is not cancelled by this: cancel it in the store.
By us: we may reset a username, hide an account from friends, or suspend, ban or close an account that breaks these terms, abuses the Service, or where the law requires it. We tell you why and how to contest it, as section 8 describes. We may also end a free account without a reason, with 30 days’ notice. If we ban or close your account, a running Rather More subscription keeps billing in the store until you cancel it there.
15. Changes to These Terms
We may update these terms. For material changes we ask you to accept the new version in the app; we record it. Until you do, the version you accepted applies. If you don’t accept, we may end the free account with 30 days’ notice. The version and date are at the top of this page.
16. Law and Disputes
These terms are governed by the laws of the Federal Republic of Germany. If you are a consumer, this does not take away the protection of the mandatory laws of the country where you live.
If you are a merchant, a legal entity under public law or a special fund under public law, the exclusive place of jurisdiction is Berlin. Otherwise the statutory rules on jurisdiction apply.
We are not willing or obliged to participate in dispute resolution proceedings before a consumer arbitration board.
