Logic puzzles · new every day

Logic puzzles, solved on a grid.

These are pencil-and-paper logic puzzles: a grid, a few rules and the clues on the board. In Nonogram the numbers at the edges tell you which squares to shade until a picture appears.

Each puzzle has one solution and you can reach it by reasoning alone, without guessing. Every day at midnight ten new puzzles arrive, from these ten games and the other four.

Which kind?

Numbers in a grid

Place digits so none repeats in a line, guided by boxes, cages or the view from the edge.

  • Every row, column and box, 1 to 9

  • Every cage hits its number

  • Towers

Heights once per line, the edges count

Shade and mark squares

Decide square by square, from counts at the edges, or from numbers or colours on the board.

  • Nonogram

  • Islands

Islands sized by their numbers, one sea

Lines and paths

Draw one line through the grid. In Pipes, turn tiles until every pipe joins.

  • Thread

One line, every square, numbers in order

    1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8
  • Loop

One closed loop, the numbers count its sides

  • Pipes

Turn the tiles, join every pipe

Every clue you need is on the board, so you solve each one by working the grid itself, square by square.

When you’re stuck

Tap Hint. In the logic games it shows the next step on your board and says why. In the grid games that have it, Errors marks anything that differs from the solution, only when you ask.

Questions

What kind of logic puzzles are these?

Grid puzzles: placing numbers, shading squares, placing stars and drawing lines, ten games in all. They’re closer to a puzzle magazine than to riddles.

Are there daily logic puzzles?

Yes. Ten puzzles arrive every day at midnight, your time, each from a different game. Ten of the fourteen games are logic games.

Do I ever have to guess?

No. Every logic puzzle can be solved without guessing and has exactly one solution. Both are checked before a puzzle ships.

Which one should I start with?

Nonogram: an easy grid is a small picture in about a minute. Binary grid and Stars also start small.

What if I get stuck?

Tap Hint. It plays the next step and tells you why, from what is already on your board.

Is it free?

Yes. Rather Free plays seven of each day’s ten puzzles with an account. Rather More, a subscription in the iPhone and Android apps, adds the other three, every past daily and more hints. It isn’t sold on the web.
